Additional Info
I am Stephen V. Lopardo (originally identified as “Baby Boy Benson”), of Fallbrook, California. I was born on May 25, 1954, in Los Angeles. I am searching for my Birth Mother, who was identified as Anne Benson. My adoptive parents were Mr. (subsequently Judge) Fiorenzo V. Lopardo and Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth (Betty) Flohr Lopardo. My adoptive parents have passed away, but told me the following about my birth mother, Anne Benson. Anne was a young single woman, approx 18-19 (?) years of age when she gave birth to me in 1954. I think she was a resident of the Bay Area, around San Francisco, although she may have lived in Los Angeles. (We certainly know that I was born in Los Angeles.) I was told that Anne attended music school and went on to a successful career in music. My adoptive parents gave me the following documents regarding my adoption:\\n\\n1. My Birth Certificate (which, interestingly, shows the Mother and Father as my Adoptive Parents, not Anne).\\n\\n2. June 19, 1961 letter from my doctor from birth, William B. Schafer, M.D., along with instructions for newborn, referencing birth weight, 8 lbs. 1 oz.\\n\\n3. June 11, 1954 letter from attorney Plattner to Fiorenzo Lopardo setting up appointment at the “Bureau of Adoption, County of Los Angeles, 2550 West Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles.”\\n\\n4. July 1, 1954 letter from attorney Claude A. Ferguson recommending my adoptive parents. This letter indicates that I was now living with my Adoptive Parents, prior to my formal adoption.\\n\\n5. July 9, 1954 letter from attorney Plattner stating that the “mother of the child had signed the consent form required by California Adoption Law.”\\n\\n6. September 16, 1954 letter from attorney John Bolton to Bureau of Adoptions recommending my Adoptive Parents.\\n\\n7. May 29, 1954 Petition for Adoption to the Los Angeles Superior Court. Paragraph V states that “Anne Benson is entitled to the sole custody of the minor child ‘Baby Boy Benson’ and has sole right to consent to this adoption.” This corroborates that Anne was single when I was born.\\n\\n8. Certificate of Baptism on August 1, 1954.\\n\\nAs far as my history, I lived with my adoptive parents (and my sole sister, whom we adopted, born October 13, 1957, Lisa Ann Lopardo). We lived at 5126 Ocean Boulevard, La Cañada (part of Los Angeles), California, until 1961. At that time, we moved to Escondido in San Diego County, California, where I grew up. I am now a real estate attorney living and working in Fallbrook, California. I am happily married, but have no children.\\n
