At the age of 5 days, October 25th, 1948, I was left on the front porch of a home located at 1615 Zonal Ave, Los Angeles, CA, presumably by my birth mother. This home was located near Los Angeles County Hospital. The police were notified and I was returned that hospital.

At this time, the hospital made out a birth certificate for me with the name Esperanza Baca. The date of birth appears to be October 20, but was changed to the 19th. 1948.

I was granted a copy of my original adoption file in June of 1993.

According to this file, in an effort to locate my birth parents, the Los Angeles probation department contacted the hospital registrar’s office and found that on October 24th 1948 three mothers of Hispanic descent left the hospital with their infant girls (according to the hospital I was definitely of Hispanic descent and I agree). An effort to contact all three mothers was made and out of the three, only two were located with their infant girls. The third mother was not found. The hospital sent letters to all three mothers asking them to return to the hospital for a check up. Two mothers responded but the letter to the third mother came back stamped. “No such person at this address.”

The names I have found that might be connected to my birth are Celia Hernandez with husband Frank Lopez and Alice Lopez with husband John Lopez.

It was thought that I might be Mary Anne Lopez born October 18, 1948, (mother’s maiden name LARA), and although I did find her birth certificate information, I have been unable to locate any information pertaining to her as to whether she is alive or deceased.

I am now 63 years old and would like very much to find any remaining biological family I may have left. Any help I might receive in finding my family will be very appreciated.
