Mary Thelma Quinn was my grandmother b. June 19, 1916 in Stockton CA to Emma Jane Fry b. Jan 7, 1896 in PA. Mary was taken in by an elderly couple, John T & Donna Quinn at "a few days old" and formally adopted abt. Nov 10, 1917 according to a Stockton Daily Evening Record article. I don't know why they, particularly, took her in. I find no record of Emma between 1910 in PA & 1920 in Stockton and have no idea when between 1910-1916 she moved or whether she became pregnant before or after reaching Stockton. Emma Jane married Emmanuel Weber much later, in 1938 but she had no other children. I don't know if the Quinn's knew Emma Jane. I don't know who Mary Thelma's father was, if he was in PA, CA, or somewhere in between.
