**UPDATE** I am filing out the adoption registry form so I had to call NY county family court and the lady I spoke with was very helpful she was able to tell me that the agency my adoption wen through was called harlem dowling westside center and my adoption date was may 17th 1995.
My name is Catherine Melendez and I am searching for my birth family. My name at birth was Lillian Rodriguez((My birth mom supposedly named me after her sister who had passed away before i was born and asked my adoptive parents not to change my name) I was born in Brooklyn NY Nov. 26th 1988 and was put in foster care as a baby. My birth mother was using crack at the time and left me in the hospital to go get her fix. My foster family ended up adopting me in 1995 and thats when my name was changed. I remember my adoptive mother telling me that my birth mother had other children boys and girls and that she had another daughter a little over a year after me someone within our birth family adopted her. I was supposed to be adopted by my uncle but he became very ill and passed away during surgery. My adoption was in Manhattans NY county family court and the agency was Harlem dowling westside center. I can remember having to go to the agency to meet with my birth mom but I cant remember her face or if she ever showed up to any of those visits. I wish I had more information to provide. I have submitted my dna to 23andme....Fingers Crossed!
My mother left me in the hospital she had another daughter between 1989 and 1991. She also had children before me. She named me after her sister Lillian who passed away before I was born she also had a brother who passed while having surgery after I was born the grandmother also was very sick and passed I was told the children born before me were living with the grand mother until she passed.
