I am searching for my long lost sister who was given up for adoption only two years before I was born. My mother, Sharon Slocum, was working as a waitress when she became pregnant with my older sister. My mother was only 19 years old at the time, and the man who fathered the child was an older, married man who was visiting from out of town as a construction worker. When my mother’s family learned that she was pregnant, she was promptly kicked out of her parents’ home. My mother had the baby at an unwed mother’s home located near Syracuse, New York. The baby girl, who my mother named Margie, was born sometime around March 5th-9th, 1964 or 1965. Unfortunately, my mother did not have the support nor the means needed to raise this baby on her own, so little Margie was given up for adoption at birth. I am on a quest to find my long lost sister because I am searching for a piece of family and familiarity that cannot be replaced. I have dreamed of finding Margie (if that is still her name) for many years now. I hope for a joyous reunion.
