I believe that my mother had me out of wedlock, and that she created a false father's name to protect my birth father, who was still married. He was a professional person and could have lost his standing. Later in 1951, they ran off to Nevada where he was able to get a divorce from his 1st wife and marry my mother. The same month he adopted me. This is my guess. My parents are deceased now. I'd like to see the Adoption Petition, though, just to make sure that I am right. I also need this for medical reasons. My half-sister had child with schizophrenia and I want to know if my grandchildren are at risk.
