Female child Born 11 February 1933. Baptized by Rev. F.J. Healy 18 February 1933, presumably in Philadelphia,PA. Child’s birth and baptism was certified by Superintendent Sister Rita of St. Vincent’s Hospital at 70th and Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Child placed with Elizabeth and H. Clifford Bailey through Catholic Church. Baileys were living in Wilmington, Delaware and first pictures of adoptee with them are at approximately 2 months in April 1933. Interlocutory order of adoption entered by Judge Speakman on 24 July 1935. Attorney representing aparents was Paul Leahy of Ward & Gray in Wilmington Delaware per letter dated 16 September 1936. Letter from Delaware State Board of Charities dated 15 January 1937 indicates Father Stout submitted his report to the Orphan’s Court prior to 15 January 1937. Final decree of adoption entered 10 February 1937 by New Castle Orphans Court Judge FL Speakman renaming adoptee “Dolores Marie Bailey.” On 11 February 1937 Certificate of Adoption entered by New Castle Orphans Court Clerk Anthony Emory providing that child shall be known as “Anne Bailey.” Aparents requested baptismal certificate with corrected name through Christ Our King Rectory in Wilmington, Delaware. By letter dated 21 April 1939 Father John Lynch of Christ Our King Rectory advised that baptismal certificate name could not be changed in church records per Father Francis Lynch (who replaced Father Stout) at the Catholic Welfare Council. Adoptee passed away in 1991. Son of adoptee has done genetic testing through Ancestry and 23andMe in attempt to find maternal family but unsuccessful in locating family or identity of adoptee’s parents.
