My sister gave my nephew up for adoption in the Spring of 1980. I'm not sure of the birth date but I know it was April, possibly May. I never met the father. He lived a couple hours away in Mason City, Iowa. I'm not even sure if he knew that Sandy was pregnant with his child. They did not have a long relationship. They both worked for the railroad and that's how they met. The hospital has been torn down. My sister passed away suddenly in her sleep on June 15, 1980, just weeks after giving birth. There were no drugs involved. It was possibly a blood clot.
