My cousin Georgia was forced to put her daughter up for adoption when she was approximately 16 years old. I was 9 months younger than her and had no clue at the time. Our mothers were sisters but were not close, so Georgia and I saw each other through our grandmother. I found out about my lost cousin (I think of her as my niece) when Georgia was terminally ill. Knowing that Georgia had this traumatic experience as a young girl answered a lot of questions. I just wish she had confided in me when we were older and I would have understood. She never ever forgot her daughter and mourned that loss her whole life. I would love to connect with her and fill in a lot of blanks for her.
