Penny was born at the Lutheran Hospital in Hot Springs SD to an allegedly single unmarried woman named Frances J Turner. The adoption was closed so it's very difficult to access the records. The process to open the records has begun. Penny has a string resemblance to the regional Native Americans and was adopted before the Indian Child Welfare Act. Our family believes there is a connection to our biological family and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. We are hoping to find our relatives and learn more about our family history as well as medical history. Penny is diabetic and takes insulin shots every day. She doesn't know the extent of her family's medical history. Due to circumstances in South Dakota with Native Americans in the 60s, it's possible that some sort of corruption surrounds the adoption, but then again, maybe not.
