Additional Info
My father was under the impression that he had an older half brother that may have been raised by the birth grandmother. He was able to locate his birth mother a few years back who was not terribly happy with having been contacted so therefore the only information she would give was the father's first and last name. Upon further research we discovered that the birth father had died in a car wreck only 6 months after my father's birth.
