The cerebral palsy diagnosis would not come until later when I was about 2 years old. Sun, Sep 6, 2009Rita Updike, 47, with her daughter Ariah, 17, was reunited with her birth mother, Abelina Montoya, 69, after her birth certificate was made public by the state of Colorado. Rita Updike, who was adopted, went to Denver to apply for her birth certificate June 29 and received information that led her to reunite with her birth family two weeks later. Rita Updike was lying on the floor of her apartment for more than 45 minutes, shaking and crying, clutching the phone in her hand. At that moment, she was closer to finding her biological mother than at any other time in her 47 years.
