Erin was born just after her dad left me. We had been engaged to be married. My mother sent me to the home for unwed mothers, Crittendon, and that’s where I had to give her up. Catholic Social Services told me it took 6 weeks for Erin to be adopted, as there was a birth defect of some kind that was corrected. It may have been a clubbed foot. She looked just like me and her dad. Black long hair, cute cheeks, dark eyes, she was precious and beautiful! I always had a sense that she was adopted by someone outside of Detroit, just a feeling. I still dream of her. She has eight siblings, two by me, six by her dad.
