Additional Info
According to a document, Confidential Summary of Carol, provided by the Child Placing Adoption Committee of State Charities Aid Association (New York, NY) my birth mother is one of 3 children from a closely knit Protestant family of Scotch and English ancestry. She studied piano and French horn. Her siblings and parents were alive at the time of my birth. \n\nLittle was mentioned about my birth father other than he was 6'2" weighing 175 pounds of English and Irish extraction. It states he was a high school graduate, pursuing further education and from a stable and happy family.\n\nI was placed with my adoptive parents first as a foster child on July 12, 1946. The actual date of my adoption is a bit confusing. The paperwork from the Surrogate Court of Queens County NY originally had the typed date of November 23, 1947 which was manually lined out and written as January 23, 1948. However a letter from Counselors at Law Broomell and Olding date Feb 7, 1948 confirms that the date was indeed January 23, 1948. The adoption papers also states that my birth mother surrendered me by an instrument of writing on June 10, 1946 and up until the time of surrender my birth mother had sole custody of me. I am unsure if that means that my birth mother kept me for the first months of my life or was then when she surrendered her parental rights for me.\n\nI was adopted into a wonderful loving family, George and Marion Hess, who renamed me from Carol Ruth Miller to Gail Anne Hess. I am a little musically talented playing the piano, clarinet, tenor saxophone and flute when I was very young. However, I cannot say that I am an accomplished musician in any way as I only made it into the grade 3 piano lesson book. My adoptive parents told me that one of my parents was a musician (assuming that is my birth mother) and the other was an artist (assuming that is my birth father but no mention of this talent can be found in any of the paperwork I have). I have no a bit of artistic talents but my son and daughter are both artistically talented - must be in the genes!\n\nI am searching for any birth family members. I do not wish to cause any concern or anguish for anyone from my birth family but would love to know my 'other family' and also let them know that I had a wonderful childhood and adult life. If my birth parents are still alive, which I doubt due to my present age, I would like to tell them that they made the hardest decision in their life but the best one for me. \n\nI am on Ancestry.com as Gail Moore with a location of Brooksville, Hernando County, Florida USA . Please feel free to look at my DNA and potential matches. Thank you for reading and good luck with the searching.\n
