Additional Info
I was born a female on 07/23/1954, third child with older siblings, 1 girl, 1 boy (oldest). I was adopted at age 2. I was told BM was separated from husband and got pregnant by short-term boyfriend. She would not give name of BF to Social Svcs, don't know if it's on birth cert. I was in and out of foster care for first 2 years, 5 placements, then back with BM, then placed again, etc. BM apparently unstable. After my adoption, she had another boy child with black BF that she put into adoption at age 4. I was adopted by prominent family in Woodland who had prior adoption of 2 girls. Family was called and asked to take me; they were not currently looking for another child. All their kids came from Children's Home Society except me as I was through Sacto Co. Social Svcs. Closed adoption, no names ever given. Barbara is NOT my birth name. Haven't been able to find what it was. My older brother was against my adoption as he often took care of me and told his mother it was wrong. She told him that she couldn't afford 3 kids, and he reminded her that she said 'money isn't important but love is.' She told the social worker that she wanted me placed with people who would appreciate my natural musical talents (didn't happen) and not be the type that only cared about education and grades. I was blonde -haired, blue-eyed (maybe hazel?), from a normal pregnancy. I sucked on a couple fingers (no thumb), spoke well, very independent, somewhat shy, cried if BM was out of sight. Birth mother was originally from New York, raised by both parents. She had a difficult upbringing due to an extremely strict mother and a father who may have been inappropriate with her. It is unclear from the records. She had a desire to attend college and become a social worker. I hope someone has information and can help me in my search.
